Putting on a Hoghton’s Living History Event
In addition to the large battles and events we undertake as part of the Sealed Knot, Hoghton’s also successfully plans, manages and puts on its own smaller living history events suitable for a wide variety of historical locations. Hoghton’s specialises in recreating the lives of soldiers and civilians from the years 1620 to 1660. We differ from other groups by presenting a structured event that offers different activities and events throughout the day. Dudley Priory 2005 Our aim is to provide the customer with a value for money recreation of the turbulent times of the first half of the 17th century. We offer a quality presentation and a show of early 17th century military and civilian life. The core is a researched and recreated camp showing the headquarters of a Royalist infantry companie of the time, with soldiers and civilians showing how the army lived and fought. The camp includes accommodations for officers and gentry alongside the shelters of the common soldier. We show how civilians were drafted in to feed and provision the troops, and how the army prepared for battle. Other features include a barber surgeon’s tent, paymaster and ale house. Halfpenny Green Vineyard, Staffordshire 2005 We can write our shows to your requirements, and build in appropriate local themes. Previous satisfied clients include the National Trust (North-West and Midlands), Dudley Town Council, Castle and Zoo, and other venues in the north and midlands, along with larger events at Blackburn, Great Torrington, Devon; Hoghton Towers, Lancashire. We have full Public Liability Insurance through our parent body, the Sealed Knot. Picture from Upton Hall, 2005 A programme of events throughout the day will demonstrate use of arms, infantry fighting tactics and show how an ordinary farmer could be plucked from the fields to be trained and sent into the savage battles of time. Other options include the use of artillery, cavalry and a recreated skirmish. Dudley Castle 2005 All events and features are subject to availability so please contact us to discuss your requirements.
